| “ALGERIA NOW” is a programme of commentary and debate that focuses on the situation created by events in Algeria.
The series includes reports filmed in Algeria and in Europe, interviews, link-ups with Algeria, Algerian and European audiovisual and written press reviews, historical background, debates, humour and culture.
Whether the issue is the status of women, sports, the economy, solidarity, human rights, press freedom, an horizon for the youth, the series shows how Algerian civilian society is struggling as best it can to avoid being crushed between fundamentalist violence and government repression. In its own way, it provides an opportunity for a democratic forum on Algeria.
